It comes after a significant outcry over problems with ticketing for the concerts in the UK and Ireland, which sold out in less than a day and prompted competition authorities to launch an investigation.
The invitations will be extended to “eligible fans we have been able to identify” who were logged into a Ticketmaster account on Saturday, August 31, the day the tickets went on sale, according to a note posted on Oasis’s X account.
Those who managed to get tickets in line “may be eligible to take part” and will get an email with instructions on how to cast a ballot.
A basic ticket’s price more than doubled from £148 to £355 due to Ticketmaster’s usage of dynamic pricing, a mechanism that is employed when demand is high and supply is restricted. The company faced heavy criticism for this practice.
In order to investigate concerns about the fairness of the policy, the Competition and Markets Authority has requested supporting documentation from fans, such as screenshots of the website taken during the purchase process.
Lisa Nandy, the culture secretary, also promised a government review, and the European Commission said it will investigate the issue.
