ISLAMABAD Numerous powerful politicians, including the Sharif brothers, have benefited from the closure or resolution of nearly half of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) 179 big corruption cases, The News revealed on Saturday.
The Supreme Court received the list of these cases in 2015.
Among the other past prime ministers who have benefited from this scheme are Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Firdous Ashiq Awan, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and Nawab Aslam Khan Raisani.
The list also contained a case against President Asif Ali Zardari over assets that were not linked to his known sources of income; he was found not guilty.
Inquiries into the “mega corruption cases” included Senator Sehar Kamran, Schon Group, Hussain Haqqani, Younus Habib, the former head of Habib Bank Limited (HBL), and others.
