Oliver Bearman, 19, gained notoriety at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in March after making an excellent substitute for Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz.
The adolescent driver started the race in eleventh place but moved up four spaces to finish seventh, two spots ahead of Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time world champion.
At the age of eighteen, Bearman made history by being the youngest British driver to start a Formula One race and the third youngest driver worldwide.
He will now be on the grid with George Russell, Lando Norris, and Hamilton, three other British drivers.
Bearman works as a backup driver for the American company Haas at the moment.
The driver’s home race at Silverstone on the eve of his multi-season contract with Haas was officially announced.
“It’s hard to put into words just how much this means to me,” Bearman remarked.
“I’m incredibly delighted to announce that I will be driving Formula One for Haas.
It is genuinely amazing to be among the extremely select few who may pursue their childhood dreams.
