Due to work that needs to be done for the installation of a new pipeline, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced that it will be suspending gas supplies to the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and Korangi regions, The News reported on Saturday.
Two significant locations will be the site of a new gas distribution pipeline project from Azeempura to Jam Sadiq Bridge, according to SSGC, who announced the news on its website.
Because of this, all of Korangi, including the residential and commercial districts as well as DHA and its surrounding areas, will have no gas supply from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on June 23.
Mehmoodabad, Azam Basti, Qayyumabad, Defence View, Manzoor Colony, Akhtar Colony, Kashmir Colony, DHA Phase 2 Extension, Phase 4, and Phase 5 are among the affected locations.
In an effort to reduce theft, the SSGC also took action earlier this week. Its personnel conducted raids in residential areas of Sindh and Balochistan, removing 770 illicit gas connections.
In order to operate their commercial operations, they also filed first information reports (FIRs) against the perpetrators who stole gas from direct lines.
570 illicit residential subterranean and overhead connections were removed by Karachi’s theft control teams from Federal B Area and Liaquatabad.
