RAWALPINDI: On his visit to the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) in Wah on Tuesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir emphasized the need of independence and technological indigenization for the advancement of the country.
The army commander was told about the manufacturing capabilities of POF, its contributions towards meeting the defense requirements of the nation’s armed forces, and its export potential during his visit to Pakistan’s largest military industrial complex.
Gen. Munir also saw a variety of POF items being tested and evaluated, including newly developed and manufactured guns and ammunition produced locally.
In his speech, the COAS thanked the officers and staff for making Pakistan’s major defense industry—the POF—and for their contributions to the nation’s economy and security.
“Native and regional businesses like POF Wah define the path to national progress. In order to guarantee dependability and bolster Pakistan’s defense, we will keep striving for self-sufficiency and the newest technologies,” the army commander declared.
The aforementioned facility, according to the website of the defense contractor, consists of 14 ordnance factories and three commercial subsidiaries. It is specialized in producing commercial explosives and has large production facilities for extrusions, sections for non-military applications, and ingots made of brass, copper, and aluminum.
