ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Alliance for Maths and Science conducted a study that reveals that over 25% of children who are not enrolled are concentrated in just 45 tehsils nationwide. This finding underscores the country’s challenges in enrolling millions of out-of-school children, and it calls for the government to take action at the tehsil level to lower the number of children who do not attend school.
“Pakistan has 25.3 million children between the ages of five and 16, who are not in school; 79 percent of whom have never been to school, and 21 percent drop out at various stages. The report, which has not yet been formally released, stated that Pakistan’s future literacy rates are at risk because the age group of 5 to 9 years old has the greatest percentage of children who have never attended school.
