The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to publish its safety audit report on Pakistan’s aviation sector this month. The assessment follows the September 2025 visit by the first FAA inspection team, which evaluated airport facilities, flight safety protocols, and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) operations. The audit also reviewed Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) procedures for pilot licensing and certifications.
A second FAA team is scheduled to visit Pakistan in January 2026 to inspect security measures across airports, airlines, and the CAA. Their findings will likely be released 2–3 months after the visit.
Pakistan reportedly paid $70,000 for consultancy services provided during the initial audit. The U.S. had previously banned Pakistani airlines from flying to America following a 2020 pilot licensing controversy.
Authorities have stressed that the decision to resume flights will only be made after reviewing the complete security audit. These evaluations are seen as crucial for rebuilding international confidence in Pakistan’s aviation standards.
