An enraged local, incensed by the death of nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus last week, calls Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz “a left-wing nut job” who has “violated his oath of office” by shielding illegal aliens. Following the killing, Mayor Girtz was holding a news briefing on community safety when he was interrupted on Wednesday by irate Georgians. Jose Antonio Ibarra, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela, is accused of carrying out the sad killing. At every turn, Girtz faced abuse, accusations of being a “liar,” “blood on his hands,” and repeated calls for his resignation when he tried to reject “the notion of a sanctuary city.”
One of the irate residents who called for Mayor Girtz to resign was James Lee, an Athens resident and father of five children. After the confrontational news conference, he appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss his grievances with the mayor.
Lee told Jesse Watters, “This mayor is a left-wing nut job, into wokeism.” “The mayor has betrayed his official duties. His job is to defend Athenians and Athens citizens, not unlawful foreign criminals.”
