PESHAWAR: According to sources who spoke to Geo News on Monday, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has “arrested” more than ten terrorists and facilitators of the attack on Chinese engineers in Bisham city, Shangla, last week.

The sources state that the deadly attack on March 26 is thought to have been carried out by groups linked with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Five Chinese nationals, one of them was a lady, and a Pakistani driver lost their lives in the attack on their vehicle in Shangla’s Besham city when a suicide bomber smashed his vehicle loaded with explosives into the one transporting the victims.

Following the incident, the nation’s military and political authorities, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, denounced the attack and said that those involved would be held accountable.

A 30-second silence was observed as the bodies of the slain Chinese nationals were airlifted back to China, and a wreath-laying ceremony was held at Rawalpindi’s Nur Khan Airbase.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, the prime minister, the head of the army, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu all had floral wreaths put in their honor.
