Washington Governor Bob Ferguson declared a statewide emergency on Wednesday, estimating that up to 100,000 residents may soon need to evacuate. The declaration highlighted risks from continued rain and mountain snow, which could worsen flooding and disrupt supply chains and transportation.
Skagit County, north of Seattle, has issued immediate evacuation orders for residents living on floodplains. Robert Ezelle, director of Washington Military Department’s Emergency Management Division, confirmed that about 75,000 residents may be affected.
