Despite early setbacks, Pakistan finished the opening day of the first Test match against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Wednesday with a decent score.
At stumps, the hosts were 158/4, with vice-captain Saud Shakeel scoring 57* (92) and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan scoring 24* (31).
The host team, chosen to bat first, struggled mightily against Bangladesh’s pace attack as Babar Azam (0), Shan Masood (6), and Abdullah Shafique (2) were all out of the first ten overs.
The hosts rallied to tie the game after losing three wickets, and Saim Ayub and Saud shared a vital 98 runs to pull Pakistan out of trouble.
