In response to Israel’s Tuesday bombing on Qatar’s capital, Doha, which targeted Hamas officials and heightened tensions throughout the Middle East, Pakistan on Wednesday called for the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting.
Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister and deputy prime minister, said Pakistan has “complete solidarity and support” for the Qatari government and its citizens.
“In view of the unprovoked illegal Israeli aggression against the brotherly State of #Qatar, #Pakistan, along with #Algeria and #Somalia, has requested an Emergency meeting of the UN Security Council, to discuss the situation and seize itself of this grave matter,” Dar wrote in a statement posted on the social media platform X.
