In order to expedite the second phase of the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, Pakistan and China are expected to sign a number of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). Ahsan Iqbal, the Federal Minister for Planning and Development, will be in China to attend the 14th Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC) meeting of the CPEC.

On Friday, senior officials, ministries, and sectoral specialists from both sides attended the 14th JCC meeting, which officially got underway in Beijing. The Chinese and Pakistani planning ministers are co-chairing the meeting.
China and Pakistan, according to Ahsan Iqbal, are “iron brothers,” bound together by mutual trust and a commitment to development. He said that a “new era of people- and youth-oriented development” would be ushered in by CPEC Phase II.
