The External Affairs Minister, other cabinet members, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a number of remarks about Pakistan. The Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) released a statement on these remarks, claiming that their purpose was to take advantage of hyper-nationalism for electoral purposes.
“Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign, we are witnessing an alarming surge in anti-Pakistan rhetoric from various Indian leaders.” In a statement released on Tuesday, the FO said, “We categorically reject these reckless remarks, which touch on a variety of subjects including the Jammu and Kashmir conflict, counterterrorism initiatives, the status of bilateral relations, and nuclear capabilities.
Unfortunately, these remarks show a purposeful desire to take advantage of hyper-nationalism for electoral advantage as well as an unhealthy and pervasive fixation with Pakistan. These also represent a hopeless
