Citing its expanding population, Pakistan has formally approached Saudi Arabia to request an increase in its Hajj quota.
Sardar Yousaf, the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, announced on Friday that the government has sent a letter to Saudi authorities and is currently awaiting a response.
Pakistan’s present quota for the Hajj
Pakistan now has a quota of 230,000 pilgrims for the Hajj. The minister claims that this figure is out of proportion to Pakistan’s current population of about 230 million. According to him, the government has requested that Saudi Arabia evaluate the quota and modify it in accordance with the population of the nation.
A formal request is confirmed by the minister.
Pakistan is awaiting an official response to the letter delivered to Saudi authorities, according to Sardar Yousaf.
