ISLAMABAD: Roughly 25 million children do not attend school, accounting for more than one-third of all children in the school-age group (5–16 years old).
The Pak Alliance for Math and Science (Pams) published a report titled “The Missing Third of Pakistan” that disclosed this.
It claimed that the new data, which is based on the Population Census of 2023, is one of the most thorough reports on the topic to be released to date. It is the first report on out-of-school children in Pakistan to offer a tehsil-level analysis of these numbers, emphasizing disparities that exist within districts and provinces.
Salman Naveed Khan, CEO of PAMS, stated that “policymakers and education managers should use this sub-district analysis as a useful tool.”
