Two people will be chosen this month (October) to undergo a year of astronaut training at the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) as part of Pakistan’s Astronaut Program.
The two are expected to spend a week on China’s space station in October 2026 after finishing their training.
The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) requested submissions for scientific experiments from all around Pakistan in advance of the expedition. Three hundred trials have been shortlisted thus far for possible program inclusion.
Suparco and CMSA signed a collaboration agreement earlier this year, paving the way for Pakistan’s first astronauts to travel to the Chinese Space Station (CSS) in Tiangong.
According to a statement, two Pakistani astronauts will train at the Chinese Astronaut Center as part of the historic partnership.
