NEW YORK: In response to Israel’s genocidal actions against the Palestinian people, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif requested the UN Security Council to impose sanctions against the country on Wednesday, including a ban on arms and commerce.
PM Shehbaz made the comments while making a statement on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly Session at the high-level open debate of the Security Council on “Leadership for Peace.”
“We have to put pressure on Israel to end its genocide in Gaza and stop attempting to incite a wider crisis in the Middle East.”
The prime minister emphasized that it was time to hold Israel’s leadership accountable for its crimes against the Palestinian people and the Lebanese people, even as he strongly condemned Israel’s bombardment in Lebanon.
