Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has urged Pakistani tech leaders abroad to leverage artificial intelligence to strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and the United States.
Addressing over 40 AI and IT innovators from Silicon Valley to Boston, Ambassador Sheikh highlighted the crucial role of the Pakistani diaspora in turning the historic bilateral relationship into a thriving economic partnership.
He emphasized opportunities in AI, digital innovation, and freelancing as key drivers for mutual growth. “Pakistan’s young, English-speaking population gives us a natural advantage in technology, and with a geo-economic focus in our foreign policy, economic diplomacy is now a top priority,” the ambassador said.
The discussion explored practical collaborations, including AI skill development for Pakistan’s youth—who make up 65% of the population—crypto and virtual asset regulations, and expanding the freelancing ecosystem, where Pakistan already ranks third globally despite limited infrastructure.
Attendees shared ideas on closing talent gaps, fostering joint ventures, and tapping into the US market, which accounts for 62% of Pakistan’s IT exports. Ambassador Sheikh encouraged the diaspora to act as permanent ambassadors for stronger economic and tech ties.
The event concluded with plans to create working groups focused on AI education exchanges and investment facilitation, with the Pakistani Embassy pledging full support for these initiatives.
