LONDON: The security agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and the increasing popularity of Islamabad in Western capitals demonstrate Pakistan’s global significance, according to Senator and former caretaker prime minister Anwar ul-Haq Kakar.
He was giving a talk on “Pakistan’s Strategic Thinking in New Emerging Scenarios” at the International Institute of Strategic Studies (IISS).
Rahul Roy-Chaudhury, Senior Fellow for South and Central Asian Defense, Strategy, and Diplomacy at IISS, moderated the discussion. Kakar was questioned by diplomats and think tank members on a range of local and regional topics.
Balochistan is home to a variety of nationalities and ethnic groups, including a sizable portion of settlers who came for economic reasons and are hence the militant group’s main targets, Kakar informed the audience.
