Pakistan’s indigenously developed JF-17 Thunder fighter jet has captured significant international attention at the Dubai Airshow 2025. During the event, Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a friendly nation for the procurement of the advanced multirole fighter, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The ISPR described the MoU as a major milestone in Pakistan’s growing defence and industrial partnerships, highlighting the rising global confidence in Pakistan’s aviation capabilities.
On the sidelines of the airshow, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff, held discussions with senior officials from allied nations, including Lieutenant General Pilot Ibrahim Nasser Al-Alawi, UAE Undersecretary of Defence, and Major General Rashid Mohammed Al-Shamsi, Commander of UAE Air Force.
Talks focused on advanced pilot training, collaboration in emerging aerospace technologies, and boosting operational coordination between air forces. The UAE military leadership also commended Pakistan’s efforts in modernizing its air force and developing indigenous aviation technologies.
Pakistan’s display at the Dubai Airshow featured the JF-17 Thunder Block-III and the Super Mushshak trainer aircraft. The JF-17 Block-III has already proven its combat effectiveness during Marka-e-Haq, Pakistan’s response to Indian aggression, reinforcing its status as a highly capable, cost-effective fighter jet.
During the May conflict, the JF-17 Thunder successfully targeted multiple Indian military assets, including the S-400 air defence system in Adampur, while striking over 20 sites across India in retaliation for missile strikes on Pakistani territory.
