The National Assembly has received a comprehensive debt repayment schedule from the Finance Ministry that outlines intentions for the years 2024 through 2040.
Pakistan’s national debt as of June of this year was Rs 71 trillion, of which 34% was foreign debt and 66% was domestic debt.
According to the breakdown, Pakistan has more than RS47 trillion in domestic debt and more than RS24 trillion in foreign debt.
Rs 18.7 trillion in 2024, Rs 8.7 trillion in 2025, Rs 7.6 trillion in 2026, and Rs 4.3 trillion in 2027 are among the substantial installments included in the repayment schedule.
Moreover, the government plans to pay out Rs. 8.4 trillion in 2029 and Rs. 6 trillion in 2028.
By June of this year, the federal government is anticipated to provide more information about both foreign and domestic loans, increasing transparency regarding the nation’s debt management.
