Baywatch legend Pamela Anderson is opening up about a bold personal change, following in the footsteps of Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Bongiovi. Recently, Millie made headlines after adopting her husband’s surname, Bongiovi, and now Pamela is contemplating a similarly transformative step in her life.
In a recent interview with Vogue Scandinavia published on December 2, Anderson shared her desire to honor her Finnish heritage by taking her family name, Hyytiäinen. She reflected on the impact of her grandfather, Herman Hyytiäinen, a poet and logger who deeply influenced her creativity.
“Sometimes I don’t want to be Pamela Anderson. I want to be Pamela Hyytiäinen,” Anderson said, expressing her longing to reconnect with her roots. “I would love to change my name, but they won’t allow me.”
At 58, Anderson explained that the idea of changing her name excites her as it signifies a new chapter in her life. “Over the years, my imagination has run wild,” she added. “I’ve tried on different identities, peeling everything back repeatedly, and starting anew each time.”
Pamela Anderson has had a remarkable career filled with reinventions, both on-screen and off. This year, she made headlines promoting her latest film, Naked Gun, while also facing off-screen speculation about a rumored romance with Liam Neeson.
Her consideration of a name change is not just symbolic—it represents personal growth and a reconnection to her family and heritage. It reflects Anderson’s long-standing philosophy of self-reinvention, embracing new phases of life while honoring the past.
