October 1, 2024 is when the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) will go out to bid for its privatization.
The Standing Committee on Privatization of the National Assembly, presided up by Farooq Sattar, made this announcement during a meeting. The federal cabinet will be asked to give the proposals final clearance.
The Privatization Commission Secretary disclosed in his briefing that the PIA privatization process started in November 2023 and is currently nearing its end, with investor preparations for bidding almost finished.
He emphasized that the winning bidder will have to put in 65–70 billion rupees and, in three years, grow PIA’s fleet from 18 to 45 aircraft.
