ISLAMABAD: In response to the 8-5 ruling on reserved seats by the Supreme Court, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would start holding talks with allies on Friday, including the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The sources state that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has made the decision to have faith in its principal ally, the PPP. This afternoon, the discussions will be held at the President’s House.

According to the sources, President Asif Ali Zardari will also be present at the meeting between the heads of the two major parties, which is scheduled for today.

According to the sources, the PML-N will be represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tatar, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.Meanwhile, Ahmed Cheema, PM’s Special Assistant for Law Irfan Qadir They said that Ayaz Sadiq, Speaker of the National Assembly, Irfan Qadir, and Ahmed Cheema will also take part in the discussions.

According to the sources, PPP representatives Farook H. Naek, Sherry Rehman, and Nayyar Bokhari would take part in the negotiations. President Zardari and the other members will receive a briefing from Attorney General Mansoor Awan.

This event occurs one week after the Supreme Court decided that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) might receive reserved seats for minorities and women. The whole bench of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, issued the 8–5 majority decision that overturned the PHC’s ruling upholding the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision to deny the SIC the reserved seats.

The PML-N challenged the ruling in the Supreme Court on Monday by filing a review petition. Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and its chairman Hamid Raza were among the eleven respondents nominated in the case, pleading with the court to set aside its July 12, 2024, order regarding the reserved seats.

Among the questions posed in the review petition was whether the reserved seats should go to the SIC.
