NAROWAL: In order to lessen the catastrophic effects of flash floods and safeguard lives and livelihoods throughout the nation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized on Thursday the urgent necessity to construct additional water storage facilities.
More than 800 people have been killed since late June as a result of Pakistan’s intense monsoon rains, which have flooded dams, swollen rivers, and caused flash floods. India released more water from its dams this week due to the heavy rains, which caused the river flows in Punjab to rise downstream.
Pakistan evacuated around 210,000 inhabitants near the Indian-flowing rivers Sutlej, Chenab, and Ravi, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
