Two police officers, one of whom was assigned to security, and a polio worker were killed when gunmen opened fire on a polio vaccination team in Tehsil Silarzai Banda, Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The remains of the victims have been taken to Khar Hospital while the investigation is ongoing. The police responded quickly, cordoning off the area and starting a search operation to capture the culprits.
Even while security precautions are still in place, this attack represents another deadly attempt to thwart regional efforts to eradicate polio.
