President Asif Ali Zardari has cautioned that those who perpetrate acts of terrorism in the country, regardless of their identity, will face appropriate consequences.
“To my brothers who stand guard at our borders, I promise that the blood of our sons [who gave their lives to defend the country] will not go in vain,” President Zardari said on Saturday after attending the funeral prayers of Lieutenant Colonel Syed Kashif Ali and Captain Muhammad Ahmed Bader at Rawalpindi’s Chaklala Garrison.
“We will avenge them [our martyrs],” the president said.
The funeral prayers were also attended by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials.
