ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf senior leader Asad Qaiser condemned federal ministers Khawaja Asif and Attaullah Tarar on Sunday for criticizing his party over alleged involvement in a “insulting campaign” against martyrs of Pakistan Army and security forces personnel, accusing them of spreading “misleading propaganda” against the PTI.
“Khawaja Asif and Ata Tarar’s misleading propaganda about Pakistan Army martyrs is regrettable,” Qaiser told reporters.
Earlier, Information Minister Tarar warned of action against the PTI’s social media team, claiming that it was responsible for the accounts insulting the Pakistan Army and the soldiers killed in North Waziristan the day before.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister Asif stated, without identifying anyone, that certain people “mocked the martyrs and compared them to returning officers”.
“Those who make statements against the martyrs must be associated with terrorists,” Asif warned earlier in the day during a media briefing.
However, PTI leader Qaiser responded to the two federal ministers, stating that his party has always honored the sacrifices made by soldiers safeguarding the country’s frontiers.
“Those who exploit the soldiers’ martyrdom for political gain are not patriots,” he wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
