The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), which was founded by Imran Khan, has demanded that an announcement be made on the appointment of the country’s next chief justice (CJP).
Along with other party leaders, Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan stated, “The PTI demands notification regarding the next CJP be issued,” at a Monday media appearance.
“We want to make it abundantly clear that the extension [in the term of the incumbent CJP] is entirely inadmissible.”
Azam Nazeer Tarar, the federal law minister, made it clear last month that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa was not interested in his extension, which is when the PTI made its demand.
