ISLAMABAD: Mumtaz Mustafa, a member of the National Assembly (MNA) for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), passed away on Monday after a heart attack, according to the NA Secretariat.
Mustafa came from Rahim Yar Khan in the southern district of Punjab. He was elected from the NA-171 seat and passed away at the Parliament Lodges.
The lower house of parliament met to express condolences on Mustafa’s passing and adjourned without further action.
Due to Mustafa’s passing, NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq declared that there would be no pounding for the visitors who had come to witness the proceedings.
MQM-P legislator Kahwaja Izhaar ul Haq said that the ambulance was unable to get to Mustafa’s lodge in order to transport him to the hospital because other people’s automobiles were blocking it.At this point, the speaker of the NA gave the deputy speaker an order to head straight to the Parliament Lodges and get the automobiles off the road.
Omar Ayub Khan, the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, expressed his sympathy on Mustafa’s passing while highlighting his gentle nature.
