Renowned Urdu author Munawwar Rana, who was battling throat cancer in addition to other health issues, passed away on Sunday in Lucknow from cardiac arrest at the age of 71.
He breathed his last at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, according to his family, which was reported to Press Trust of India (PTI) on Sunday.
Sumaiya Rana, his daughter, informed PTI that her father will be laid to rest on Monday.
His wife, four children, and one son survive him.
According to a PTI report, Tabrez Rana, Munawwar Rana’s son, was hospitalized for 14 to 15 days owing to illness. He was brought to SGPGI after being admitted to Medanta in Lucknow,
He passed away today at approximately 11 p.m. after being admitted to SGPGI after originally being admitted to Medanta in Lucknow.”
Munawwar Rana had previously struggled with illnesses relating to his kidneys and heart.
On November 26, 1952, Munawwar Rana was born in Uttar Pradesh.
The 71-year-old was well-known for his poetry and literary accomplishments in Urdu. His poetry was praised for its accessibility because it included terms from Awadhi and Hindi.
His most well-known composition is the poem “Maa.”
In the process of becoming a well-known poet, he won various honors, including as the 2014 Sahitya Akademi Award for his book “Shahdaba.”
