Hassan Murtaza, the general secretary of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Central Punjab, announced on Sunday that Sardar Saleem Haider Khan’s oath of office as the provincial governor will take place on May 7 rather than today.
Murtaza announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the Punjab governor has been postponed for unavoidable reasons. The ceremony was scheduled to take place at the Governor House on May 7 at 6 p.m.
Saleem Haider, Faisal Karim Kundi, and Jaffar Khan Mandokhail were appointed as the governors of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan, respectively, by President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday.
A statement from the President’s Office stated that in compliance with Article 101 (1) of the Constitution, the head of state gave his permission based on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s advice.
