During a meeting of Eurasian leaders on Monday, Presidents Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin alternately attacked the West in an effort to place Beijing at the forefront of regional affairs.
As an alternative to conventional alliances, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) positions itself as a non-Western form of cooperation among ten nations in the region.
Xi informed leaders, such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India and President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus, that the world was growing increasingly “chaotic and intertwined.”
In a subtle jab at the US, the Chinese leader also denounced “bullying behavior” from some nations.
He stated, “The security and development tasks facing member states have become even more challenging,” during his speech in Tianjin, a port city in the north.
