After sustaining a torn Achilles tendon on his debut last season, the 40-year-old quarterback scored two touchdowns in his first appearance at Jets’ MetLife Stadium.
In the Jets’ opening home game of the season, Aaron Rodgers, who has been crowned the NFL’s Most Valuable Player four times over his lengthy career with the Green Bay Packers, received a warm reception.
“I had a decent feeling. Rodgers remarked, “I was doing certain things I used to do when I was younger.
“I feel great to be able to play an entire game in front of our amazing fans.”
The Jets lost their first two games of the new season against the San Francisco 49ers before winning their next game against the Tennessee Titans.
After missing the first two weekends of activity due to injury, Rodgers returned to duty on Thursday and completed 27 of 35 passes for 281 yards.
Before a stunning deal with the Jets was arranged last year, he had a fantastic career with Green Bay, helping them win the Super Bowl in 2011.
