With Slovenia’s Primoz Roglic leading the charge, they will now be known as Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe and will be aiming to win the Tour.
“We are starting a new chapter in our team’s history today,” stated Ralph Denk, the CEO of the group.
The large Austrian beverage company declared early in the year that it would be purchasing a cycling team.
Red Bull is well-known in many high-level sports, but it is most significant in Formula 1, where Max Verstappen has led the team to dominance for the last three years.
Although cycling teams’ budgets are notoriously difficult to predict, the arrival of Red Bull is anticipated to enable the German-registered World Tour team to eventually challenge the “big three” road cycling teams: Ineos Grenadiers, UAE Team Emirates, and Visma-Lease a Bike.
I’d even go so far as to argue that this is a turning point for cycling in general,” Denk continued. Although we have always had high goals for our initiative, it is obvious that we now want to reach the very top.
Red Bull Corporate Projects CEO Oliver Mintzlaff stated, “We have high goals. We want to keep improving and moving forward to win cycling races and grand tours.”
Among Bora-Hansgrohe’s recent accomplishments include his victory in the 2022 Giro d’Italia alongside Australian rider Jai Hindley.
