KATHMANDU: According to Indian media on Tuesday, Rajyalaxmi Chitrakar, the wife of former Nepal Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal, died from deadly burn injuries she suffered when demonstrators allegedly set her home on fire in Dallu, Kathmandu.
Family members claim that before starting the fire, protesters pushed Chitrakar into the house. She was taken to Kirtipur Burn Hospital in serious condition, but while receiving treatment, she passed away from her wounds. According to reports, she sustained severe burns to several body parts, including her lungs.
The attack occurred as violent protests organized by Generation Z swept through Nepal for the second day in a row. The rallies were sparked by claims of corruption, joblessness, and the government’s ban on social media.
