President Biden’s fiscal 2025 budget proposal has drawn criticism from a number of House Republicans whose districts contain rural areas of the country due to provisions they claim will put further financial burdens on family-owned businesses and farmers in the United States.
Lead by Representative Randy Feenstra of Iowa, over a dozen Republicans attacked President Joe Biden’s budget in a direct letter, citing the increase in capital gains taxes—fines paid by owners or investors when they sell an asset whose value has appreciated over time.
“Today, we are writing on behalf of all Americans who manage small businesses and family farms, along with the employees and customers they serve. America’s farmers and small businesses have been the backbone of the country since its founding.
