PESHAWAR: before an effort to overturn the Peshawar High Court’s (PHC) decision regarding the oath taken by KP Assembly members elected to reserved seats, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has chosen to file a case before the Supreme Court.
KP Law Minister Aftab Alam said in a statement, “We will challenge Peshawar High Court’s verdict in the Supreme Court,” noting that the legal panel includes distinguished attorneys Salman Akram Raja, Hamid Khan, and Faisal Siddiqui.
Alam stated that following two days, a “writ petition” will be filed.
He underlined that until the top court rules on this issue, the oath will not be administered to members of the provincial assembly (MPAs) who were elected on reserved seats for women and minorities.
Following this, the province will confer in a cabinet meeting today about the anticipated postponement of the Senate election.
The cabinet will ultimately decide, according to the provincial law minister, but the administration might have also filed a lawsuit against the anticipated postponement of the Upper House election.
