Hanif Abbasi, the Federal Minister for Railways, shocked his fellow National Assembly members on Tuesday by subtly criticizing Defense Minister and senior party colleague Khawaja Asif for his remarks the previous day.
“Those in government should not adopt an opposition-style tone,” Abbasi said, without specifically mentioning Asif.
It did not suit a member on the Treasury benches to say things like this, according to The News. “You are part of the system for the last 40 years which you are saying is not on the right path,” Abbasi stated.
If the defense minister disagreed with the government, the railways minister suggested that he step down.
