Prince Andrew Stripped of Royal Status After Renewed Pressure
Dr Francesco Ferretti, a lead researcher from Virginia Tech, explained that shark populations, particularly white sharks, have drastically declined in the Mediterranean over recent decades. The International Union for Conservation of Nature now classifies Mediterranean white sharks as Critically Endangered.
The decision followed weeks of growing pressure on the King to take decisive action. Public anger intensified over Andrew’s long standing association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Critics argued that his continued use of royal status damaged the monarchy’s credibility.
Under the new arrangements, the 65 year old former Duke of York is expected to move to a smaller property. He will reportedly receive private financial support from King Charles. His former wife, Sarah Ferguson, who had been living with him at Royal Lodge.
Andrew had already stepped back from official royal duties in 2019 after a widely criticized interview. During the interview, he attempted to explain his friendship with Epstein, but his remarks were seen as evasive and deeply damaging to the royal family’s image.
Alongside this controversy, the royal family continued to face tension linked to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Living in California, the couple remained distant from royal life, while their public comments and business ventures kept them in the news.
