The co-writer of the show stated that she and James Corden “would happily announce it” if there was anything noteworthy.
Deadline, a US entertainment news website, reported that the show might return this year for a Christmas special following a five-year hiatus.
However, the co-writer of the show, which is primarily shot in South Wales, stated to Oliver Callan on RTE Radio 1 on Wednesday: “If there was something to say on that front, James [Corden] and I would happily announce it.”
Before making a comeback for a Christmas special in 2019, the sitcom, which starred Joanna Page and Matthew Horne as Gavin and Stacey, ran for three seasons starting in 2007.
In addition to co-writing the sitcom, Corden and Jones co-star as Smithy and Nessa, their respective closest friends.
Melanie Walters, Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb, and Alison Steadman made up the remaining members of the ensemble cast.
