Bollywood mourns the loss of legendary actor Dharmendra Deol, who passed away on November 24 at the age of 89, just two weeks shy of his 90th birthday. Known as the “He-Man of Bollywood”, Dharmendra’s death has left fans and the film industry heartbroken. The veteran actor had been battling respiratory issues and was recently hospitalized at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, triggering a flurry of death rumors that were later proven false.
Amidst the tributes pouring in from stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Govinda, and Salman Khan, a long-forgotten 2015 interview of Dharmendra has resurfaced, sparking speculation among fans. Back then, Dharmendra revealed that if a biopic on his life were ever made, he would want Salman Khan to play him. He said, “Salman Khan has characteristics similar to mine. He will be able to portray me onscreen perfectly.”
The revelation stunned fans, especially as Dharmendra didn’t mention any of his own sons—Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, or even nephew Abhay Deol. Dharmendra shared a special bond with Salman, even calling him his “third son”. Salman, in turn, has often expressed his admiration for the Phool Aur Patthar star, calling him his inspiration during public events like the Da-Bangg Tour.
Now, following Dharmendra’s passing, many fans hope that Salman Khan may one day honor the late actor’s wish by bringing his legendary journey to the big screen. Given their deep bond and mutual respect, Salman could be the perfect choice to portray the icon in a heartfelt tribute.
Meanwhile, Bollywood continues to grieve as stars including Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and others express sorrow over the loss of a true cinematic legend.
