Sarah Paulson is gearing up for her next major project, All’s Fair, but before stepping into her new role, the actress reflected on the unforgettable moment that marked the true beginning of her career.
The 50-year-old star shared that her success didn’t happen overnight. She recalled being just 19 when she worked as the understudy for actress Amy Ryan in a Broadway production — a memory she says became a turning point in her life.
Paulson described the first time she ever walked onto a Broadway stage. “I was only 19, filling in for Amy Ryan. The stagehand looked at me, gave me a thumbs-up, and asked if I was ready,” she said.
Even though she was nervous, she signaled for the curtain to rise. “I remember the sudden change in temperature between the audience and the stage, the sound of people clapping, the rustling of their programs… it’s a moment that stayed with me forever,” she added.
Today, Paulson is one of Hollywood’s most respected actresses and even holds a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Up next, she will be starring in Ryan Murphy’s series All’s Fair, set to premiere in 2026.
