Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is scheduled to visit the White House on November 18 for an official meeting with US President Donald Trump, according to a White House spokesperson.
The visit coincides with Trump’s efforts to encourage Saudi Arabia to join the Abraham Accords, which previously normalized relations between Israel and countries including the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco. Saudi officials have been cautious about joining without progress on Palestinian statehood.
In an interview with “60 Minutes,” Trump expressed confidence that Saudi Arabia would eventually become part of the accords.
Additionally, the leaders are expected to discuss a potential US-Saudi defense agreement. Reports suggest talks are ongoing regarding a formal deal, though details are still being finalized. Saudi Arabia is seeking US security guarantees and access to advanced weaponry.
The US-Saudi partnership, based on oil supply and security support, has been long-standing. During Trump’s visit to Riyadh in May, the US agreed to sell Saudi Arabia an arms package valued at nearly $142 billion.
