Al and Jase Robertson, stars of the reality series Duck Dynasty, have criticized American cities such as Seattle and San Francisco, calling them “unlivable” under what they describe as “woke” leadership.
“You and I were talking earlier, and you mentioned the new Seattle mayor, a woke socialist type, saying ‘Do drugs in the street,’” Al said. “We’ve unshackled any idea of trying to have order in this chaos.”
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson recently faced criticism over reports that her administration had issued guidance suggesting that people caught using or possessing. Wilson clarified on KIRO Newsradio that no policy change has occurred.
Our diversion programs can be used before arrest or trial, depending on the situation. The goal is to make sure people get the help they need, and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach.”
Al shared his personal experience visiting Seattle over the years.
“I first went to Seattle for an Alaska cruise and returned annually for several years,” he said. “It’s a beautiful city with great restaurants on the water. But over time, I noticed changes. By the fifth year, we were afraid to walk the streets in tourist areas and often stayed inside our hotel.”
He said the city’s decline reflects what happens when people abandon stewardship under God.
“When you watch this progression, you see a lack of order,” Al explained. “Seattle has become difficult to live in or even visit. It’s a clear example of what happens when God’s guidance is removed.”
Jase Robertson echoed his brother’s concerns, noting similar patterns in other cities.
“You see this in many urban areas,” Jase said. “When society prioritizes creation over stewardship, the results are always negative. Cities like Seattle or San Francisco show visible decline — filth and disorder replace what should be thriving, beautiful communities.”
