LAHORE: According to News, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday sentenced Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) member Punjab Assembly Hafiz Farhat Abbas to a two-day physical remand in a case involving firing on the police party and vandalism during the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest against ‘rigging’ in elections.
According to the information, the police presented the MPA who joined the SIC after being elected as a PTI-backed independent candidate to the ATC and requested his physical remand. The police stated that the accused MPA’s custody was essential for the investigation.
The ATC judge handed over Hafiz Farhat Abbas to police on a two-day physical remand and asked the investigators to present him by March.
