KARACHI: Due to damage to a gas pipeline today that is located in Bath Island and Clifton, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Wednesday that the gas supply will be impacted in a number of regions of Karachi.
“Today, a 16-inch diameter gas pipeline at Bath Island, Clifton, sustained damage or burst. The gas supply firm said on its X account, “SSGC had to reduce/stop gas pressure in this pipeline, serving a number of localities around the Clifton area.” The company stated that there will be an impact on the gas supply in various blocks and phases in the following locations: Bath Island, Sultanabad, Ziauddin Hospital, Movenpick, Mariott, and PC hotels; Clifton; Gizri; Defence Housing Authority (DHA); Gizri; Punjab Colony; Delhi Colony; Old City area; Mai Kolachi and surrounding areas; and so on.
According to the statement, the SSGC staff are working on the site to finish up repairs by tomorrow morning “so that the gas supply is resumed as soon as possible.”
The business stated that households in the aforementioned locations will experience supply disruptions while the repair work is underway.
The SSGC declared this week that it will be cutting off gas to a portion of Karachi.
The gas supply business issued a statement announcing that on Sunday, December 24, it will be working on developing the gas distribution infrastructure. As a result, gas supplies would be interrupted in certain areas.
The business clarified that the gas supply will be cut off in Korangi’s residential and commercial districts from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in order to complete this “indispensable” operation
Gas will also be shut off in some portions of the Defence Housing Authority, a wealthy neighborhood in the busy city, for about 13 hours at the same time.
