Left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi moved past Shadab Khan on Tuesday to claim second spot among Pakistan’s leading T20I wicket-takers.
Shaheen reached the milestone by dismissing top-order batsman Pathum Nissanka during Pakistan’s pivotal ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours match against reigning champions Sri Lanka, which is currently taking place at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
With just two deliveries to tie the score with Shadab, the left-arm bowler, who had 111 wickets in 89 games going into the match, got in-form Kusal Mendis caught at short mid-wicket.
In his subsequent over, he struck once more, catching Nissanka off guard to secure second place on Pakistan’s all-time wicket-taking list in Twenty20 Internationals, behind fellow pacer Haris Rauf’s 128 scalps in 92 innings.
