Shahid Afridi, Pakistan’s former flamboyant captain, commented about fast bowler Haris Rauf’s diminishing form and the necessity for him to seek advice.
Speaking to a local television channel, Afridi underlined the necessity of not marginalizing Rauf, but rather providing him with the assistance and coaching he requires to regain form.
“Right now, Haris Rauf appears to be struggling with his bowling, which I don’t quite understand. He requires honest assistance at this time, as well as the direction of seniors, because we cannot entirely ignore him,” Afridi stated.
Afridi highlighted Rauf’s potential and previous contributions to the team’s success.
“He has delivered some outstanding performances for Pakistan. That child will improve even more if he plays longer-format cricket.
“When he plays four-day cricket, his bowling will naturally improve, but right now, he needs our help,” he continued.
Rauf’s form has dipped since the World Cup in 2023, and he appears to be suffering in the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In his maiden game against Islamabad United, he gave 38 runs in three overs, while against Quetta Gladiators, he took a wicket while conceding 47 runs.
PSL season nine is in full swing as clubs compete for the elusive championship.
Four matches have now been played in the event, with Quetta Gladiators leading the standings with two wins in as many games.
After the final matches, the top four teams will qualify for the playoffs of PSL 9.
